Hashers, Here's a recap of Friday's festivities, as best I can remember them. We gathered at the designated time up at the school on Violet in Boulder. Unfortunately, our hares didn't have their act together, and we nearly broke Hood and Shaven's tardiness record. While the pack waited, Humpsalot managed to tear off one of his pads in the parking lot, and so missed the trail and has been infirmed for several days. (He's still got a limp, but is recovering quickly.) When they finally got started, they loped out of the parking lot to the southeast, and the hounds followed shortly afterward. The powders looked as if they'd been dropped from a teaspoon 5 feet off the ground, but the pack persevered, and managed to sniff out the first few of many DP's into a nice neighborhood east of Broadway. Cum Silent and Mt Hood showed Trevor (unnamed) how to shortcut, circumventing what was to be a confusing CB and shopping center circuit, while Joe (unnamed) and Deep met Andy (unnamed) on a somewhat less ambitious shortcut one street over to a short CB and map. This trio, joined by Router, yipped with joy, then headed south to Norwood and east to a dastardly DP. Some confusion ensued, and after discussion at a later beer check, it was decided that Hood, Silent and Trevor (unnamed) shortcut to a bad trail on the other side of the DP and cut back to it, with Hood's pack arrow pointing in reverse. Then they head down the true trail to the south, leaving more pack arrows. Router and Andy (unnamed) went straight through the DP to the east, past Hood's reverse arrow and past the BT marker. Joe (unnamed) and Deep found the reverse arrow and figured there might be some sort of loop, then "shortcut" through a cool little bushy walkway in a reverse of Hood's and Silent's original shortcut. Meanwhile, Router and Andy (unnamed) found the BT and zipped back to the DP to mark it, then took off along true trail, with the rest of the pack not far behind them. Joe (unnamed) and Deep realized the folly of their shortcut, and decided to check the rest of the BT. They eventually found the BT marker, but ran through it, hoping to outguess the rest of the pack. They failed miserably and after much consternation, returned to the DP to find it marked. They muttered and moaned, then caught up to Cummy and Heether (unnamed), and finally the beer check, west of Broadway on Linden past a nice little pond (this last was appreciated by Jordan the Dog (unnamed), whose ass was fairly kicked at this point). Darkness was settling upon the hapless pack as the hares set off to lay part two, and by the time the pack set off, it was pretty futile trying to find powders. Router was doing a braille routine to distinguish powder from paint marks, and half the pack gave up, choosing instead to wander around Wonder? Lake back toward the start. The other half, it was told later, was unwilling to relinquish trail, and actually managed to get back on it quite a ways back. The faithless contingent who wandered around the lake were getting fairly close to the start when the encountered a DP in the middle of nowhere, which revitalized them, and they followed a series of true trail arrows to the finish, led by Router, Deep, Heether (unnamed), Cummy and Joe (unnamed). A short time later, the more persistant half wandered in, bloody and soiled - they didn't say why. Down-downs ensued behind a nearby trailer park, and much drinking and singing occurred before we were scattered by the cops responding to noise complaints from the trailer park. We made alot of noise for a small pack (~12). Before we were busted, the Homer J Fong award was christened and awarded to Two Holes for his tangle with the NCAR pseudocops the hash before. There will be at least two nominations for this award next hash. Blows His decided not to show up with the shitstud, and so it was not passed. There was one naming of note: The halfmind formerly known as Joe (unnamed) or... well there were probably other names for him... anyway, he's known as Jizz Whiz these days. Congratulations, Whiz. Interesting to note that his name was decided by a full boat race by the named, with song. One other highlight of down-downs was a lengthy and clever version of Chicago, which was probably what got us busted. On-afters were quite a success as well, as Two Holes treated the majority of the pack to quite an array of liquors and grub. Quite a "spread", if you will. Next hash will be hared by... still have to pin that one down. Either Dr D or Two Holes. It will be Labor Day weekend sometime. After that, we go on our "winter schedule", which will feature Saturday noon hashes, still once every two weeks as long as we have willing hares. On-on, Deep
