Hashers, Here's a recap of this past Friday's festivities. We gathered near the Basemar Cinema Savers in Boulder. Once again, we were few in number but many in spirit, and it was not long before the hares, Mt Hood and Nuts in the Crack, dropped powder and bolted. A timely start put the pack in a feisty mood, and several decided that a small pack wasn't going to keep them from shortcutting. So after a few hundred meters of trail in the general direction of Baseline and US36, Deep turned to Cum Silent and said, "You want we should run down Morehead?". Cum Silent snickered and replied, "Heh. More Head. Heh." And with that, the duo, with Adam (unnamed) in tow and not knowing exactly what he was in for, turned down the wrong side of US36 toward the SE, while Cummy disappeared out of sight along TT down Baseline. The SCBs followed Morehead for a good ways, hoping to sniff powder at the bike path underpass under US36. They arrived, and were just starting to lament the lack of hare droppings when Mt Hood came dashing out of the underpass. Cum Silent and Adam (unnamed) dropped to their knees, a fairly common occurance really, and beckoned at the lumbering Deep, who was just turning the corner. Deep bellowed, "Hare Si...", then dropped, though it was clear that the hapless hare had seen his predators and resigned himself to snaring at the hands of Cum Silent. A quick glance over his shoulder indicated that his co was nearby, and Deep pounced on Nuts as he blundered into the gathering. Nuts began to cry, softly and tenderly, but the hares continued on. The trio of SCBs were so full of themselves at this point that they didn't bother to watch trail as it exited the killing floor, and therefore were shocked and confused when a good 5 minutes later Hood jumped across a stream and bolted down the bikepath, no more than 50 meters away. When they started up again, the SCBs were at first confused by a lack of powder, then correctly surmised that a map must be hidden up inside a dark storm drain. Elated that they had found a hare powder stash, they inadvertantly dumped the flashlight that had been sitting on top of the bag into some mirky water, from which it has yet to be recovered. Without light, they were unable to crawl the necessary distance up into the drain, and so relied on their instincts once again, which proved to be a mistake. They picked up powder again up on the street while the hares were close by, hiding behind a dumpster. This proved to be the return of a map loop, though the hares had laid it so close that it seemed like the outlet, despite being obviously backlaid. Still, the trio of SCBs, after wasting much time, managed to follow the map loop backwards, and rejoined the rest of the pack on TT some distance down the bike path. Rumors suggest that the first section of TT was marred by a miscounted CB, and that the pack was discouraged by the early times marked on the snares. They needed not have been concerned, however, as the map loop snafu killed whatever headway the SCBs had made, and the pack proceeded to trudge through Martin Acres over uneventful trail to a Beer Check, the first in a good while. Beer Checks late in trail tend to bring out the Flatlander in this hash, and a pleasant walk down across Table Mesa, around the parking lot behind McDonalds, through some condos to Tantra, then east into an undeveloped area led to the finish, where there was beer waiting for a change. The pack elected to retire to Hash House I for down-downs after the shuttle, as some of the wankers were feeling a bit chilly. Down-downs ensued. Blowsis, already hammered from completing something he called his "orals" earlier in the day, won the award after a one-man drinkoff to the chant "Two Beers Enter, No Beers Leave". Natural Light was sighted at a BFHHH event for the first time, and it marks a low point in our brief history. There were no namings to note, but there were many many and out of tune songs sung, and ales/rice beers consumed. There were no group On-Afters. Next hash is Friday 4/20 6pm. It will be a Pickup hash. I haven't picked a start yet, so suggestions are welcome. After that, the next three trails are spoken for, through the end of May.
